As set forth by scholastic theologian Saint Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225-1274), they are: anger, covetousness, envy, gluttony, lust, pride, and sloth. The seven virtues are: faith, hope, charity (or love), prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. The first three are called the theological virtues, the last four the cardinal virtues.
